EFFECT: The performer shows 3 pieces of curved wood, each of a different colour. These are stacked on top of each other so it can be seen that the red is longer than the yellow and the yellow is longer than the green. These are placed into a stand which also shows their size ranging from longest to shortest. The performer says that if he wants to, he can alter their size. He takes out the yellow curve, pulls it and places it down. He then selects the red curve, pushes its ends and places it in the centre slot of the stand where the yellow curve had been. The yellow curve is placed in the remaining slot and the sizes of the two pieces has indeed altered. The magician then takes the green curve and stretches that. He puts it down and takes up the yellow. He squeezes its end and places it in the slot where the green curve had been. The green is returned to the remaining slot and the sizes have indeed altered again. Now the magician takes out the yellow and stretches it, placing it to one side. He then removes the green, compresses it and puts that down. Finally he removes the red. He picks up all three curves and assembles them one on top of another. He fans them out for his audience, showing them front and back. He closes up the fan and the three curves are seen to now be exactly the same size.
