EFFECT: A compass is held in the hand and rotated to show that it always points, as it should, in one direction. You then reveal that this is a "CHINESE COMPASS" and that when used by any other nation it simply does not operate. After saying this, incredibly the compass starts to show different directions as it is rotated. These can vary from right angles to each other to totally in the opposite direction, You then finish the story by reminding your audience that it is a Chinese compass and when used by the Chinese it always points in the same direction. The compass does ex­actly that to the amazement of the audience.
